About
Experience a powerful blend of history and modern design at Coventry Cathedral. Begin with the moving remains of the Old Cathedral, destroyed during the 1940 Blitz and now an internationally recognised symbol of peace and reconciliation.
Step into the Blitz Museum, nestled within the Ruins, usually open weekends in the warmer months to explore 1940s Coventry life during WW2. Discover wartime life through authentic artefacts, a recreated schoolroom, and a typical home from the era—brought to life by our passionate volunteers. A great experience for the whole family with free admission.
For panoramic views, climb the Cathedral Tower (open Saturdays in warmer months). At 295 feet, it’s the third tallest in England and offers breathtaking sights of the city and beyond.
Alongside the ruins stands the striking New Cathedral, a masterpiece of 1960s architecture designed by Sir Basil Spence. Known as a “casket of jewels,” it features stunning works by some of the era’s greatest artists, taking visitors on a deeply spiritual and visual journey.
Located in the heart of the city, Coventry Cathedral spans over 1,000 years of history—from medieval stonework to modern design—offering an unforgettable experience for all.
A tour from one of our expert guides will really bring the building to life, or alternatively you can purchase a map or guidebook from our friendly Welcome Team. Once you have taken in our stunning building why not complete your visit with a trip to ‘Rising from the Rubble’ café which is consistently voted the best in Coventry.
We can cater for groups of any size and we would love to welcome yours. Visit www.coventrycathedral.org.uk to book your chance to hear our story of peace and reconciliation in a truly breath-taking setting.
